Chapter 10 in The Poverty of Nations, 1999, pp 97-101 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Relative international poverty is the extent of difference in the levels of living of various countries and is proposed to be measured in terms of a broad index of purchasing power of people. Such an index is derived by a Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) estimate of GNP per capita, which is worked out by the United Nations for inter-country comparisons.
