Abstract:
Abstract The European Union is the leading area in the world for the production of wine, with a share of between 60 and 70 per cent of the total. The wines produced in the Union can be classified into three categories: table wine, which makes up about 65 per cent of production at present, but the share is declining; quality wines, produced in areas which are suitable for that particular quality. These are the so-called VQPRD which make up about 30 per cent of the market; other wines used in the production of Cognac and not included in the previous categories.
