Abstract: Abstract The concept of technopolis was introduced to Austin more than a decade ago. The setting was an international conference in March of 1987, hosted by the University of Texas’ IC2 (Innovation, Creativity, Capital) Institute. Participants came from Japan, China, England, France and the silicon centers of the US to present their views on emerging issues in technology commercialization and economic development.
