Escaping Flatland

Chapter 9 in Thinking from Within, 2006, pp 149-164 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on an inherent more than an emergent benefit of the practice of Thinking from Within: namely, that it yields concrete representation of the rich world we experience. This benefit is inherent since Thinking from Within, as defined in Chapter 1, entails constructing physical representations of important matters in three spatial dimensions (see Chapter 4). This benefit is framed in terms of imagery, and, as a visualization of this strong view, we use the metaphor of ‘escaping flatland’.1
