Japanese Culture and Organizational Behaviour
Timothy Dean Keeley
Chapter 3 in International Human Resource Management in Japanese Firms, 2001, pp 32-97 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter, along with Chapter 2, deals with the variable business culture in the Conceptual Model of Factors Affecting HCN Integration. The previous chapter demonstrated the importance of culture in determining the effectiveness of IHRM policies and practices. This chapter focuses on Japanese culture and organizational behaviour issues. The scope of this research necessarily includes understanding Japanese HRM policies and practices and their transferability or application at Japanese foreign subsidiaries. I shift through the jungle of literature on Japanese management to clarify the actual HRM policies and practices at the majority of Japanese MNCs as well as examine how they might affect the integration of HCN managers.
