Bullying at work

Adrian Furnham

A chapter in Head & Heart Management, 2008, pp 35-37 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Is bullying really on the increase at work? Is this simply over-reporting by incompetent, lazy, vengeful staff eager to punish their bosses and sue their organizations? Or does the stress and complexity of modern business life lead to stressed managers who then bully, harass and victimize innocent and vulnerable workers? Workplace bullying supposedly takes many forms. It includes assaults and threats, verbal as well as physical attacks, ridiculing, nit-picking and even patronizing someone.
