Chapter 4 in The Globalization of Multinational Enterprise Activity and Economic Development, 2000, pp 80-105 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract While it is possible to debate the scale, pace and degree to which globalization is occurring in the world economy, there is little doubt that a transformation is underway in both countries and companies. It is being driven by three mutually reinforcing factors, namely the growing scale, mobility and integration of the world’ s capital markets; the diminishing significance of national boundaries as deregulation accelerates and as barriers to trade are reduced; and by the ability to use technology to exploit knowledge on a worldwide basis. These factors impact equally upon goods and services, although the latter is the concern of this chapter.
