Chapter Chapter 5 in Medical Tourism in Developing Countries, 2007, pp 95-137 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Why does Malaysia attract medical tourists while Mauritania does not? Given that all developing countries face the same international environment in which there is a growing demand for health care, as well as a high income elasticity for medical services and increased outsourcing of all services, why do some countries succeed in developing a medical tourism industry while others do not? In chapter 1 it was stated that the ten countries under study possess advantages over other developing countries that have enabled medical tourism to take off.
