Abstract: Abstract Demographics and Socioeconomics. New Hampshire, located in the New England region of the United States, has a population of 1.3 million people, making it the tenth least populous state in 2005. The state’s population increased by 36,700 people from 2000 to 2005 and is projected to increase to 1.6 million by 2025. This 1.1 percent projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 1.0 percent. The state’s 2005 per capita personal income of $37,835 was the sixth highest in the United States, some $3,340 above the national average. Per capita income in New Hampshire grew at an average annual rate of 2.5 percent from 2000 to 2005, compared to 2.9 percent nationally.
