Abstract:
Abstract Demographics and Socioeconomics. With a population of 22.3 million people, Texas was the second most populous state in the United States in 2005. From 2000 to 2005 the state’s population increased by 1.4 million people, and is projected to increase to 30.1 million by 2025. This 1.7 percent projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 1.0 percent. Per capita personal income in Texas was $32,604 in 2005, which was $1,891 below the national average. From 2000 to 2005 the per capita income in Texas grew at an average annual rate of 2.9 percent, which equals the national rate.
