Abstract: Abstract Demographics and Socioeconomics. Wyoming, located in the Mountain region of the United States, has a population of 495,226 people, making it the least populous state in 2005. The state’s population increased by 1,444 people from 2000 to 2005, and is projected to increase to 529,031 by 2025. This 0.3 percent projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 1.0 percent. The state’s 2005 per capita personal income of $37,270 was the tenth highest in the United States, some $2,775 above the national average. Per capita income in Wyoming grew at an average annual rate of 5.5 percent from 2000 to 2005, compared to 2.9 percent nationally.
