The European Trap: Jobs on the Run, Democracy at Stake
Hans-Peter Martin
Chapter Chapter Eight in Global Capitalism Unbound, 2007, pp 131-144 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Offshore outsourcing has dramatic political implications of which most political decision makers are far from being aware. In the European Union, it will not only continue to undermine the welfare states and significantly reduce the size of the middle class in its key member states, but it will also contribute to challenging the very foundations of democracy in the individual nation states.
