Abstract: Abstract Wisconsin had a population of 5.6 million people, making it the twentieth most populous state in 2006. The state’s population increased by 192,831 people from 2000 to 2006, and is projected to increase to 6.1 million by 2025. This 0.5% projected annual growth rate is above the national average of 0.8%. Per capita personal income in Wisconsin was $34,476 in 2006, up from $32,922 in 2005. For 2006, this was $2,153 below the national average and the twentieth lowest in the country. The state’s per capita income grew at an average annual rate of 3.2% from 2000 to 2006, compared to 3.5% nationally.
