Abstract: Abstract In 2006, Colorado had a population of 4.8 million people, making it the eighth most populous state in the country. The state’s population increased by 452,116 people from 2000 to 2006, and is projected to increase to 5.5 million by 2025. The 0.8% projected annual growth rate is equal to the national average. Per capita personal income in Colorado was $39,587 in 2006, up from $37,702 in 2005. For 2006, this was $2,958 above the national average and the eighth highest in the country. The state’s per capita income grew at an average annual rate of 2.9% from 2000 to 2006, compared to 3.5% nationally.
