Abstract: Abstract Connecticut, located in the New England region of the United States, had a population of 3.5 million people in 2006, making it the twenty-second most populous state. The state’s population increased by 99,224 people from 2000 to 2006, and is projected to increase to 3.7 million by 2025. This 0.27% projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 0.8%. Per capita personal income in Connecticut was $50,787 in 2006, up from $47,701 in 2005. For 2006, this was the highest in the country and $14,158 above the national average. From 2000 to 2006 per capita income in Connecticut grew at an average annual rate of 3.5%, equal to the national growth rate.
