Banking and Commerce: What Difference Did Wal-Mart Make?
Christine E. Blair
Chapter 2 in Financial Institutions and Markets, 2008, pp 25-63 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract We are once again engaged in debate over banking and commerce. The focus of the current debate is commercial ownership of industrial loan companies or industrial banks—commonly referred to as ILCs. Despite its seemingly narrow focus, this debate will have broad implications for how affiliations between banking, financial, and commercial firms will be regulated and supervised.
