Abstract:
Abstract Extant systems management principles and frameworks draw on management theories and principles characterized as centralized management or planned action. They include techniques like applications portfolio analysis that assume primacy of rational and analytical direction. Planned action is criticized by various researchers of management who propose significant alternatives like strategizing, histories and context, stressing difference between exploitation and exploration. Systems developers too question efficacy of ‘plan-driven methods’ and propose alternatives like agile systems development.
