Rural Poverty in Paraguay: The Determinants of Farm Household Income

Ramon Lopez and Timothy Thomas

Chapter 12 in Rural Poverty in Latin America, 2000, pp 244-257 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Almost 50 per cent of the population in Paraguay is rural and about 90 per cent of the rural population is employed in agriculture (Jazairy et al., 1992). There are indications that the incidence and severity of poverty in rural areas is much worse than in urban areas.
