Abstract:
Abstract In the space of four decades, Insead has developed from an entrepreneurial venture to an internationally regarded institution.1 It is distinctive in having achieved this metamorphosis without university or government support and in a less-than-hospitable environment (to management education, to unrecognised diplomas or to fee-paying education). Moreover, the institute’s spectacular growth has been achieved without major discontinuities which is a testament to the astute vision of the founders. It is an entertaining and enlightening story.
