Abstract:
Abstract A couple of years ago, I was asked by a European company to coach one of its top executives who was in the process of integrating a merger of two European businesses. The company had a strong reputation for its professionalism and consequently the merger was assiduously planned; human resource preparation was diligent in order to ensure a smooth integration and use the synergies between the businesses effectively. Yet, six months after the merger was announced, many executives of the acquired organization had left of their own volition, the business performance dropped and the Divisional CEO was asked to work with an external consultant to stabilize the international team, reduce the number of defections and focus on the development of the top team.
