Abstract: Abstract Smart, inclusive, and sustainable growth were the basic objectives of the EU 2020 strategy that was launched in 2010. It has five targets and the attainment of these is through the pursuit of certain measures that are described as flagship initiatives of which there are seven. (The targets are enumerated in Box 11.1.)
