Abstract:
Abstract It is now more than a decade since Hansmann and Kraakman (2001) made a compelling normative case that convergence in the governance practices of public corporations around the world towards the Anglo-American model is both inevitable and desirable. Needless to say, this assertion of ‘end of history’ in corporate governance generated considerable controversy among scholars and practitioners. We believe that time has come for us to take stock of changes happening in corporate governance in countries around the world and evaluate whether indeed such convergence has been occurring. This volume represents such an evaluative effort under-taken by governance scholars from a cross section of countries.
