Abstract: Abstract All cultures and religions know the importance of their rites of passage: the reaching of adulthood, the celebration of marriage and the rituals surrounding death, for example. Rites and rituals offer both powerful symbols of the life journey and also help to manage the often powerful emotions associated with them.
