Motivating your staff
Adrian Furnham
A chapter in The Engaging Manager, 2012, pp 114-116 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Most people have heard of only three psychologists. They know Sigmund Freud, who they often consider to be somewhere between a madman and a sex maniac. They also know about Abraham Maslow and his dreary, over-simple “theory” of job motivation. A few also know of Frederick Herzberg, who is remembered for his two-factor theory of job satisfaction; and the line they recall is “money is a hygiene factor”. And that’s about it!
