Pay at work
Adrian Furnham
A chapter in The Engaging Manager, 2012, pp 132-134 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Why is the head of your small, local council paid as much as s/he is? Why are dozens of people at the BBC paid more than the prime minister? Why are people in some semi-pointless jobs such as fashion (or glamor) modeling or news-reading rewarded so highly? Why do secretaries in the City earn more than the Archbishop of Canterbury? And why is the CEO of your organization paid so much more than you?
