A chapter in Regional China, 2013, pp 118-129 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Heilongjiang is a province of the PRC, located in the northeastern part of the country. The name literally means “black dragon river,” the Chinese name for the Amur. The province is located at the highest latitudes. It neighbors Russia across the Amur and Wusuli rivers running in its north and east, respectively. In the west it adjoins Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and to its south is Jilin Province. The one-character abbreviation of Heilongjiang Province is “Hei”.
