Abstract: Abstract Inner Mongolia (also officially called Nei Mongol) is an autonomous region of the PRC, located in the northern frontier of the country. It lies along the northern border of China, neighboring Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jilin, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to the east, south and west, as well as Russia and Mongolia to the north. The region is a long, narrow strip of land sloping from north to south, spanning 2,400 km from west to east and 1,700 km from north to south.
