Chapter Chapter 18 in Stress in the Spotlight, 2014, pp 141-153 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract With over 25 years of experience working in traditional marketing and advertising research companies, Shelley Zalis held senior positions at ASI Market Research (now Ipsos ASI) and Nielsen Entertainment prior to founding OTX (Online Testing Exchange) in 2000. Under Shelley’s vision and guidance as CEO, OTX became one of the largest (top 20) research companies in the world, amassing $60 million in revenue in just nine short years. It also became one of the savviest, known as a firm that would take risks and deliver robust, cutting-edge, technology-enabled solutions that few thought possible. In addition, Shelley became the first woman chief executive ranked in the top 25 of the largest research companies and devoted herself to becoming a mentor and friend to other women and lead- ers in the industry, set on shaking up what is often viewed as a very safe, very traditional world. In 2008, Shelley was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® award in the On-Line Services category and, in 2010, the ARF Great Minds in Innovation award.
