Chapter 1 in On the Brink, 2014, pp 1-30 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract At an Extraordinary Meeting of Lloyd’s members held in London’s Royal Albert Hall in May 1993, a retired Englishman moved towards the microphone. After commending the efforts of the new Chairman and Chief Executive, he said: A man’s word is his bond, but it no longer is at Lloyd’s. There are 30 Names who have taken their own lives. Sir, with your permission, I want to have one minute’s silence.’
