Chapter 12 in The Business Growth Benefits of Higher Education, 2014, pp 149-168 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Philanthropy is one of the UK’s great traditions — and education is one of the greatest causes. From medieval through Victorian to modern times, generous donations have facilitated the development of academic institutions. Philanthropy has enabled them to become internationally successful and to play their part in the economic, social and cultural achievements of the UK over many years.
