Chapter 5 in Cloud Systems in Supply Chains, 2015, pp 84-103 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Turbulent global financial systems have pushed uncertainty to an unprecedented level and have forced many supply chains to utilize advances in Information Technology (IT) to facilitate cooperation between their functional units and members of their chains in order to increase flexibility and responsiveness. In addition, the competitive position of the supply chain has been largely affected by cost, quality, delivery dependability, flexibility, innovation and responsiveness to environmental concerns. These six components need to be satisfactorily achieved for sustainable competitive advantage. These components fall within the domain of the value-added supply chain and logistics. Competitive success will, therefore, depend greatly on how supply chain firms manage their logistics operations.
