Chapter Chapter 6 in Workshift, 2013, pp 115-133 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Through our research for this book, we learned that many organizations have teleworkers, but few designed and followed a plan to implement a formal Workshift program. We also learned that organizations, especially more established companies that informally allow telework or enable small programs to organically grow into larger ones without following a defined plan, tend to miss opportunities to realize the widely recognized and promoted benefits of telework. Because of this, we devote this entire chapter to an illustration based on what one financial services company did to engage in a substantive process to launch a formal program. To explain the many factors and details that contribute to a successful implementation, we have added recommendations for an enterprise-wide launch and subsequent scaling of a Workshift program.
