Real Estate Financial Regulations

Roy Girasa

Chapter Chapter 6 in Laws and Regulations in Global Financial Markets, 2013, pp 207-249 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract A key component in recent legislation is the attention paid to real estate mortgage loans and the collateral issues relating to them. The financial crisis began with the bursting of the real estate bubble that had built up until the mid-first decade of the new century. Thus, in this chapter we will review the major changes that have taken place and continue to occur as a result of the Dodd–Frank Act. Before we do so, we will review the basic concepts of real estate and real estate financing.
