Chapter Chapter Nine in Tourism Management, Marketing, and Development, 2014, pp 179-196 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter introduces the problem of cooperation between the public sector (represented by local government) and the private sector (represented by private, profit-motivated entrepreneurs) in a tourist region. The problem is significant because of the complex nature of a regional tourist product. Not only public but also private entities are responsible for its elements. From this point of view both sectors are complementary and cooperation between them is essential to satisfy the different needs of tourists staying in the region and to assure the region’s competitiveness.
