Mismanaging Our Economies: Ignoring the Evidence

Bryan Gould

Chapter Chapter 11 in Myths, Politicians and Money, 2013, pp 141-158 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The rise of China and other rapidly developing economies has not been the only development that our leaders have failed to recognise or understand. They have imposed upon us a virulent form of self-delusion about both the correctness of their doctrines and the success that they are claimed to guarantee. Our leaders have been so concerned to convince the populations of western countries that they are uniquely successful managers of our affairs that they have themselves fallen victim to the constant barrage of propaganda the have produced to this effect.
