Our Leaders Are Ignorant of How Our Economy Works

Bryan Gould

Chapter Chapter 13 in Myths, Politicians and Money, 2013, pp 173-184 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract One of the most startling aspects of our recent economic history has been the revelation that those who control our economy know so little about how it actually works. In particular, it seems that, even though they run a monetarist macroeconomic policy that focuses exclusively on money, they are almost completely ignorant of what money is or where it comes from.
