Abstract:
Abstract The pace of technological change results in ever-shorter product life cycles and a continuous search for enhanced efficiency, which is characterized by a fierce competition for market share. To achieve these goals, firms must use information technology (IT) with foresightedness to redesign business processes, improve supply chain management, and increase the value provided to the customer. This competitive environment provides an exceptional laboratory for evaluating how companies use IT to create business value. The goal of “enhanced efficiency” requires the use of IT to achieve a greater market share. In addition, IT systems are intrinsic to improve users’ performance, and to make the tools of the organization user friendly so that they can be used by individuals to maximize speed of information and efficiency, reduce material loss, and boost productivity as a result of faster decision making. This will provide for the competitive edge.
