Chapter 3 in The Theory of Entrepreneurship, 2014, pp 49-74 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Opportunity has long been a fascinating and important concept to entrepreneurship researchers while remaining an elusive aspect of the entrepreneurial experience. Thus, it affords the most emphasis to the entrepreneur and how she recognizes and exploits opportunity. Pioneering entrepreneurship scholars identified opportunity, namely opportunity and cognition, as critical to the entrepreneur and her behavior, and as a result two perspectives or orientations arose.
