Paul Leone
A chapter in Measuring and Maximizing Training Impact, 2014, pp 151-160 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract When I started this book, I told you about a bridge. This bridge connects your training (point of origin) to bottom-line business performance (your destination). It begins with an engaging training experience (Level 1). That training leads to new learning (Level 2). That learning leads to behavior change (Level 3). That behavior change leads to business impact (Level 4). That business impact should be big enough to justify and exceed all training costs (Level 5). These are the stepping stones and critical linkages of your bridge. And all around this bridge is your climate. Do you have the foundation and support pillars to uphold your bridge and keep it strong? Will it be strong enough to withstand all the “inclement” conditions that can knock your trainees off their path and over the side into the cold, dark waters below? And beyond the environmental conditions that frustrate and hinder employees, what about those same crucial climate elements that actually maximize impact and boost the ROI of all your training programs? Evaluating the factors that can strengthen, weaken, or even make or break your bridge is your Level 6.
