A chapter in Measuring and Maximizing Training Impact, 2014, pp 161-163 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Measuring the impact of your training is no longer a nice-to have. It’s an absolute business imperative. Measurement not only defines the chain of impact at every level, but actually makes that impact happen. It creates and builds the proverbial “bridge” between a training event and its ultimate ROI. By simply defining how learning leads to employee behavior change and how that employee behavior change leads to business results, your measurement strategy actually brings the story of impact to life. It describes in detail the employee’s journey from training event to business results and allows you to identify all the factors along the way that can either facilitate or block them from reaching their destination. By defining and measuring each step in this journey, you are in essence holding the hands of participants and helping them traverse this treacherous path to bottom-line impact. Simply put, measuring the impact of your training will maximize the impact of your training.
