Strategy Making

Chapter Chapter 20 in Learning Leadership in a Changing World, 2014, pp 213-224 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The most powerful vision is merely a good idea until it is translated into a series of actionable steps that make a real-world difference. Warren Bennis notes, “For action without vision is stumbling in the dark, and vision without action is poverty-stricken poetry” (Nanus, 1992, p. xv.) Dreaming must be joined with doing, ideas with implementation, envisioning with executing—all in the context of relentless change and fierce competition. Determining the next, best steps and providing the collective framework to take them is the work of Strategy Making.
