Abstract: Abstract Our reactions play a significant role in the experience of transition, particularly in and around the triggers that initiate the process. These reactions—made up of emotions, thoughts and feelings—are everywhere. No surprise. What was surprising was women’s beliefs about their reactions. Women in my research found it remarkable to learn that other women felt the same way they did. In fact, many women shared that their first response to their transition was, “There must be something wrong with me.” Solitary. Questioning. Self-limiting?
