Abstract:
Abstract For decades, manufacturers have focused on volume: moving more units to keep the top line rising. It’s a logical strategy in an economy based on cheap, abundant natural resources, and one in which environmental issues are seen as a problem to be dealt with “another day.” When resource prices are dropping and environmental concerns are largely disregarded, one of the most efficient ways to grow is by increasing throughput.
