Abstract: Abstract This paper will discuss some aspects of the problem of wages and wage policies in Latin America. The first part will concentrate on certain characteristics of the region’s economic structure. The second part attempts to evaluate wage policies and their evolution in the past. Finally, some hypotheses are put forward concerning possible relationships between the theme of the paper and the development process.
