Biographical Introduction

R. D. Collison Black and Rosamond Könekamp

A chapter in Papers and Correspondence of William Stanley Jevons, 1972, pp 1-52 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The Journal of W. Stanley Jevons records the development of his thoughts, his feelings, his purposes and his struggles during the fifteen most vital years of his life. It is an intimate and even a moving document. Jevons started this journal in 1852 when he was almost seventeen, and he continued to write in it until just before his marriage in 1867. After that there is only one entry, made in 1869.
