Academic Life Again 1946–1961
Lord Robbins
Chapter Chapter X in Autobiography of an Economist, 1971, pp 213-240 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Returning to L.S.E. after all these ardours and endurances was returning home again. There was the same freedom, the same atmosphere of friendship, the same serious pursuit of high excellence, the same wide international contacts, the same sense of special function which always made me feel that, if I was to be academic, I would rather be there than in any other university institution in the world. Nevertheless there were differences, differences which, if the history of L.S.E. is to be clearly articulated, deserve to be put on record.
