Chapter 10 in The Economics of Residential Location, 1973, pp 171-187 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The methodological stance adopted in this chapter is rather different from that in the rest of the book. In the other chapters we use the empirical evidence to test the predictions of the theory. In this chapter we use the theory to explain various changes which are known, or believed to have occurred in cities generally.
