Abstract:
Abstract In the postwar years, Konrad Adenauer formed the Christian Democratic Union (C.D.U.), a moderate conservative party, alongside the long-established Social Democratic Party (S.P.D.) and the Free Democratic Party (F.D.P.). There is quite a close parallel with the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Parties in Britain respectively.
