A chapter in Accelerated Development in Southern Africa, 1974, pp 169-172 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Professor van As said that the paper by Professor Vosloo concealed or partly simplified the fact that both the apartheid policy (or separate freedoms) and development as such originated earlier than 1948. Historically, a spontaneous tendency to segregation was evident ever since Bantu and White came into direct contact with each other in South Africa. Similarly, developmental programmes for the Bantu had also been initiated since the 1920s in South Africa.
