Chapter Chapter VII in America’s Impact on the World, 1975, pp 151-175 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Despite the social defences erected against the unchecked working of the market economy,1 a belief in the justice and power of the market place is central to American life. In this sense, the Americans have remained true to their original intention in coming to this land: not to loot and leave but to settle and trade.
